Save Energy and Lower Your Bills With New Government Grant

Natural Resources Canada has recently launched a new site that allows Canadian homeowners to apply for a grant designed to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Canada Greener Homes Grant was created to give homeowners the opportunity to make their homes more energy efficient, which will help drive down their utility bills.

The government maintains that this new initiative will not only help cut greenhouse gasses (GHGs) but also create new jobs for energy advisors, further develop green supply chains and combat climate change.

Up to 700,000 grants of a maximum of $5,000 will be offered to homeowners for use in energy efficient retrofits like enhanced insulation. An additional grant worth as much as $600 will be earmarked for EnerGuide evaluations and advice to help plan the renovation.

What this ultimately means is that if you're planning a renovation that includes an energy efficient component (as directed by an EnerGuide evaluator), you could be eligible for a grant of as much as $5,600 to help pay for something that will help you... and help save the planet.
